FALL ESCAPE

Winter is soon over along with Lent. Our students studied very diligently and needed two breaks from their studies.

In late October, they escaped to the Concord River where they rented canoes…

and rowed north and back again South to row under the Old North Bridge.

And finally, they challenged each other to swim in the river the longest; but it proved to be too cold for all of the challengers.

Their next escape was late in December when they returned to New Hampshire to Mount Chocurua, where they did ford streams,

and climbed mountains.

and celebrated Br. Joseph-Teresa’s 25th birthday on the mountaintop;

the candles on the cake however did not light; a cotton ball with Vaseline was meant to overcome the mountain breeze. Instead, the whole cake seemed to go up in flames. The candles melted onto the cake. But they salvaged enough for each to enjoy their Elijian fire cake experience; [see Eligah’s fire1 Kings 18.38]. They just avoided the candle wax on top. The birthday was celebrated on the next day in the Monastery with less fire.

Thank you for your help in supporting these young Carmelites and us old ones as well. Please pray for our young men.

THE FRANCISCAN MISSIONARY SISTERS FOR AFRICA

Sr. Angelina, Sr. Anne & Sr. Camilla have left the white building here. Sr. Mary Fisher now lives at the new convent in Belmont where Sr. Felicia has joined her. Sr. Angelina is affiliated with the Belmont convent. Sr. Anne & Sr. Camilla have moved to Ireland. They are sorely missed here after 35 year as neighbors, especially at Mass every morning. We wish them all the best in their new situations.

RENOVATIONS

The statue of Christ the Teacher is the next to be repaired. We need a sculptor to make fingers for the Lord who lost them when the statue was moved here from Brookline.

We are very grateful to Leona Green and Catherine Soondeuk Byun Min, for their steadfast labors for the two previous statues they rescued from damage and restored to their original beauty

Although the Pandemic virus has degraded in recent days, we will continue to remember all of your personal intentions. We now record your intentions in a book at the door of the chapel so that the friars can remember them in their prayers.

Holy Thursday Mass at 8:00 PM
Good Friday Service at 3:00 PM
Holy Saturday: the Easter Vigil Mass at 8 PM
Easter Sunday Mass at 8:00 AM.

The picture of the burial of the Lord is our own 14th Station in the Chapel.

The Resurrection of the Lord is the ultimate gift to us of reconciliation. Jesus shows us what is the Dawn of our perfect Day. We return to being fully possessed by our Gracious GOD!

So let us rejoice in Jesus who goes before us into our future!

May your Easter Season be abundantly blessed!

And, may we be a people of Thanksgiving for every breath we take and every act we make.
