The Postulant Program

Fr. Ralph-Elias Haddix, our Prior, directs the Postulant Program which will begin again next year. His last group of Postulants completed their program here and moved on to the Novitiate at Holy Hill in Wisconsin.

On May 30th Br. Raphael of the Divine Mercy, O.C.D. (Noah Alan Scheibmeir) and Br. John-Joseph of the Immaculate Heart, O.C.D. (John Joseph Morris) received the habit of the Order and began their novitiate. They will spend the next year in prayer, continued discernment, and studying our life and spirituality. Please keep them in your prayers.

The Program for our Simply Professed Students

Br. Emmanuel of the Mother of Mercy, O.C.D. is still in studies from last year at St. John’s Seminary towards his Masters in Theology.

The new class of five students arrived at the end of this summer to prepare for studies at St. John’s Seminary and at Boston College School of Theology and Pastoral Ministry.

Two of them are interested in the Brotherhood: Br. Isaiah who is working in the sacristy with Br. Emmanuel and Br. Nathanael of Jesus who works on the grounds with Br. Moses. Both Br. Isaiah and Br. Nathanael study at St John’s Seminary. Br. Nathanael also is taking classes on maintenance which will certainly benefit our Monasteries.

Two of the new students are studying for the Priesthood at St. John’s Seminary:

• Br. John Magdalene of Mary Immaculate, O.C.D. has done some great work organizing our pantries and recreation room.

• Br. Moses of the Resurrection, O.C.D.

Finally, Br. John-Teresa is also studying for the priesthood at the Boston College School of Theology and Ministry. His house job is to care for the refectory.

Br. John-Mary also takes classes at Boston College (BC) with a visitor, Fr. Justin Paek, a Korean priest belonging to our Order. Fr. Justin is seeking a degree in spirituality from BC.  

Both of these schools are just across the street from the Monastery. How convenient!

At Thanksgiving, we remember how God has blessed us with friends and Family and sustained us with many other gifts. We wish that you all could join us at Mass through these days, but our door remains locked. We pray that everyone will remain safe.

You may recall that a special Mass is celebrated here on the first Saturday of each month to help us all through the pandemic. We will pray for all those infected with the COVID-19 virus, their caregivers, the deceased, their families and friends, and all of us waiting for the vaccine/booster shots.

Please join us, if you will, in praying to the Blessed Virgin Mary to intercede for us all. If you wish your intentions to be included, please send them to us at pauldfohlin@gmail.com They will be placed by the tabernacle. We have received hundreds of intentions already and there is plenty of room on the altar for many more

Mass Offerings

Also, in November we remember the souls of our loved ones. You can include them, if you wish, in your petitions or request a special Mass. The instructions to order a Mass for the living or deceased, Perpetual Mass Unions, or a series of 30 Gregorian Masses for the dearly departed may be found on our website.

Members (living or deceased) enrolled in the Perpetual Mass Union (pictured above) share in the following Blessings:

• A special Mass celebrated each Monday.

• A special Mass on Christmas Day, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost.

• A special remembrance in Masses celebrated on the Major Feast Days of the Blessed Virgin.

• The daily Masses and Divine Office of the Brighton Carmelite Community.

We accept requests for Gregorian Masses: thirty (30) consecutive Masses celebrated for the individual soul of a deceased as s/he prepares to enter the kingdom of God in heaven, as recommended by Pope St. Gregory the Great.
