The Apostles Peter (left) and Paul (right) stand on a dark ground facing each other, holding with their right hands a miniature of the Church. In Peter's left hand he holds a scroll and the keys to the Kingdom while Paul holds a closed Gospel in his left hand. In the middle of the church is an altar table with a chalice containing the Eucharist. In a celestial opening, Christ Emmanuel (Jesus as the Logos).

In general, the atmosphere of the monastery is quiet and prayerful. Most of us have ministries that enable us to arrange our own work schedule around the community acts of prayer, recreation and meals. In most monasteries we spend between three and four hours in prayer (Mass, Liturgy of the Hours, Personal Prayer). Since this is a principal part of our service to the Church as contemplatives, we learn to balance the demands of the community and ministry in order to both demonstrate the primacy prayer has in our life and achieve a healthy balance between our work and prayer.

“The Eucharist is the symbol and source of true brotherhood, a sign of unity and a bond of charity…Made one in Christ and led by the Holy Spirit, they also implore the Father with one heart and voice, as they celebrate the Liturgy of the Hours, and devote themselves to personal prayer.”
